About Big Bayou

We'll take you there

Big Bayou serve up an addictive cocktail of downhome Rhythm & Blues, Southern Soul and Caribbean Bayou Funk — sweet as Tupelo Honey and hot as Louisiana Pepper Sauce.

To fish for songs, the band casts its nets along the Mississippi and the Gulf of Mexico and when they set sail on their old shrimp trawler, the great R&B classics are their compass and the grooves of New Orleans their guiding star.

Grab your gator-skin dancing shoes, come aboard, and enjoy an evening of handmade roots music and the timeless sounds of the American South!

The Band
Kiko 'El Profesor' Perez, bass, vocals

Kiko 'El Profesor' Perez

bass, vocals

The Spanish-born son of a bullfighter (no joke) has toured the world and is at home in all styles, both as a singer and a bass player (and probably as a bullfighter as well). The distinguished Bachelor of Jazz also teaches at the renowned Vienna Music Institute.

Christoph 'Gris-Gris' Kögler, keyboards, vocals

Christoph 'Gris-Gris' Kögler

keyboards, vocals

He has played the keyboard for many secular rock stars such as Ian Paice or Billy Sheehan, but if you listen to him playing with your eyes closed, you would rather think you were at an ecstatic organ dedication in a Baptist church in Bogalusa.

Florian 'Fléaux' Tuchacek, drums

Florian 'Fléaux' Tuchacek

drums

Despite his nickname (roughly translated as 'flail'), the head of the rhythm section responds to every musical nuance with finesse and sensitivity. Fléaux's incredibly elastic beats have been making the Austrian session scene swing for years.

Jürgen 'Ju-Ju' Mitterlehner, saxophone, vocals, percussions

Jürgen 'Ju-Ju' Mitterlehner

saxophone, vocals, percussions

When Ju-Ju blows his magic horn, it often unleashes uncontrollable excitement both on the dance floor and on stage. And when he shakes his Creole tambourine, even the most reserved audience lets go of all inhibitions.

Alex 'Trevor' Gantz, guitar

Alex 'Trevor' Gantz

guitar

The guitarist, of whom Fats Domino once famously said: "Never heard of him!" And yet: Over the years the gunslinger from the deep south has shared the stage with artists such as Hans Theessink, Heather Nova, Eric Bibb or the Mojo Blues Band.
